    • DAY 1

    Negombo


    Upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), you will be met and escorted by our HTCey Leisure Tour Guides to your vehicle of choice. You will then proceed to Negombo, the coastal town renowned for sea food and golden beaches where you will check in to a hotel of your choice.

    You will spend the rest of the day at your leisure, relaxing by the beach or touring a fishing village to experience first hand, the life and activities of fishing folks and their families.

    (Approximately a 30 minute journey from the airport to the hotel)

    • DAY 2

    Anuradhapura → Habarana


    After breakfast, proceed to Anuradhapura, a UNESCO world heritage site. One of the most sacred cities in the country, Anuradhapura is a must see attraction for any visitor to Sri Lanka that wants to explore the ancient ruins of architectural and archeological wonders. The lakes and canal systems built for irrigation by the Kings in the 4th Century BC are to date being used by farmers in this dry zone.

    The City covering an area of 40 sq Kilometers is surrounded by Buddhist temples, monasteries, and ruins of old palaces, Dagabos, ponds and pools etc. The Abhayagiri museum, Isurumuniya rock temple, the twin ponds known as Kuttam Pokuna as well as the Sri Maha Bodhiya - the most sacred tree in the Buddhist Religion - are some of the popular sights visited by all. For the avid photographer, a late evening tour of the City will help capture Ruvanweli Maha Saya (A Buddhist Dagoba) reflected across the lake which is a beautiful image not to be missed.

    You will then travel to Habarana/Sigiriya for your over night stay in a hotel of your choice.

    (Approximately a 3 hour journey from Negombo to Anuradhapura and a 1 hour journey from Anuradhapura to Habarana/Sigiriya)

    • DAY 3

    Polonnaruwa


    You will leave the hotel after breakfast and proceed to Giritale for a safari at the Minneriya national park. Located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa, the Minneriya National Park covers over 8,000 hectares of land with mixed scrub and evergreen forest. The park is a natural habitat for the Sri Lankan elephant, deer and leopards. Popularly known as the "gathering" of elephants, Minneriya is most known for the sighting of these giant primates in herds that are not seen at other parks.

    You will then proceed to visit yet another UNESCO world Heritage Site, the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. The second capital of Sri Lanka, Polonnaruwa today is a showcase of the great Sri Lankan architecture of Buddhist monasteries and monuments dating back to 12th Century AD.

    You will return to your hotel for the overnight stay.

    (Approximately a 1 hour journey from Sigiriya/Habarana to Polonnaruwa)

    • DAY 4

    Sigiriya → Dambulla


    After an early breakfast, proceed on an expedition of the Sigiriya Rock fortress built by King Kassapa I (477–95). Keep your cameras ready to capture the breathtaking view from the 180 meter high 'Lion's Rock' which is surrounded by thick greenery. The UNESCO protected site also is well known for the frescoes or paintings on the rocks as are the Sigiri grafitti or poems inscribed in the rock in ancient text.

    After a relaxing lunch and a swim at the hotel, you will drive to the Dambulla cave temple also known as the Golden Rock Temple. Located within the Cultural Triangle of Sri Lanka, the cave temple is at an elevation of 1118 feet from the sea level. The 600 feet high and 2000 feet long temple is considered the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka that dates back to 1st Century BC. The temple consists of 5 caves that contain statues and paintings depicting the life of Lord Buddha

    You will have a leisurely evening to relax by the pool or enjoy the natural surroundings of the hotel.

    • DAY 5

    Kandy


    Leave hotel after breakfast to discover the Royal City of Kandy. En-route, you may choose to pay a short visit to the famous spice gardens in Mawanella and the Elephant orphanage in Pinnawela.

    After arriving in Kandy, Sri Lanka's last Royal kingdom and a UNESCO World Heritage site, you will visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden, Kandy Museum; the market place, precious gems & jewellery shops and Sri Lankan Batik shops.

    Later in the evening, you will visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth in the old Royal palace complex where the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha has been safe guarded. You will then have the opportunity to also discover a Cultural Show inclusive of an energetic traditional dance troupe accompanied by tumultuous drumming finally climaxing to an amazing fire-walking show. If the visit coincides with the annual Esala Perehara (the Parent) held in July/August, you will instead be "awing" at one of the most beautiful and glamorous events one could experience in this Island nation.

    (Approximately a 2 hour drive from the Cultural triangle to Kandy). You will stay the night at a hotel of your choice.

    • DAY 6

    Colombo


    After an early breakfast proceed to Colombo. En-route, you could visit Gadaladeniya, Ambakke and the Lankathilake Temples to marvel at some of the well preserved Buddhist architecture, statues and paintings.

    Once in Colombo, In a Half Day City Tour you could visit the Old Parliament, Colombo Fort, Colombo's ancient trade port in Pettah, Independence Square, Gangarama Temple, BMICH, and more. You can also enjoy a rewarding Colombo Shopping Tour – ask your tour guide for where the bargains are!

    At night, you could either enjoy the sounds of the Indian Ocean pounding against the walls of the Galle Face Green or take a stroll along the Beira Lake enjoying the peaceful and serene atmosphere. You could also checkout the Colombo night life as many bars and night clubs are open until wee hours of the morning.

    • DAY 7

    Departure


    Prepare for your return journey to BIA. You are expected to be at the airport at least 3 hours prior to your departure time. Have a safe journey back home and we hope to see you soon.
